Don’t Cry Over Spilled Milk…
…was originally said to a pumping mother.
Sunday morning I had to sing at church, which meant getting everyone up early and over to Grandma’s house. I also had to leave C with a bottle (which she takes now - yahoooooo!), since I wouldn’t be with her for about 3 hours.
The sun wasn’t up yet, but unfortunately my cranky children were. I sat there pumping while they screamed for my attention and unavailable lap. I got everything else together and put them in the car. I didn’t even put my makeup on or get completely dressed because they were so whiney.
As we were almost to Grandma’s, I reach in the bag to find it is soaking wet. Soaking wet with my precious milk!!!! I started to cry because all that work pumping was now sitting in the diapers I had in my bag.
This isn’t the first time I’ve cried over spilled milk either. E never directly nursed, and I pumped for about 10 months. I did spill his milk a few times, and cried EVERY time it happened. And really, who would ever care about spilling cow’s milk? But breast milk? Wahhhhhh!
